Eyewear Trends 2026: Must-Have Styles and Colours of the Year

In 2026, eyewear is no longer seen as a simple accessory; it guides looks and builds the identity of the wearer.

This year, we welcome new developments without forgetting the trends of the past, revisited in a new light. The trend is a clear return to the past, but with a greater emphasis on lightness and simplicity.

What are the trendy glasses of 2026? The leading models

Eyewear trends are expressed above all through shapes, which are a truly distinctive feature of eyewear. The aesthetics of 2026 are inspired by the past, but with a greater focus on minimalism and an evolution of frames towards a lighter line. There is, therefore, a clear reference to vintage styles, which are back in vogue but in a more understated and refined way.

These are the models that define this year’s trends:

  • 2026 confirms the return to Vintage, perfect for those who want to express their identity by drawing inspiration from the past. Vintage glasses are a way of wearing history and emotion, which is why they never cease to captivate.
  • Oval models, characterised by thin frames in light metal or shiny acetate, create an excellent balance between minimalism and retro spirit. They are ideal for those with square faces, as they soften the angles and create the right look.
  • The cat-eye model, literally shaped like a cat’s eye, is bold and characterised by elongated lines that enhance the eyes. Although they were invented almost 100 years ago, they continue to be a symbol of charm and femininity every year.
  • Oversized frames remain but are evolving. The frames are so large that they cover a large part of the face, so they are made thinner and lighter to enhance style and elegance.
  • Bold models are also not going out of fashion, but are being recreated with lighter materials, geometric designs or transparent frames that do not weigh down the face. Ideal for those who want to be noticed.

In 2026, in the midst of the digital age, one thing that should not be forgotten is well-being. By constantly being connected to digital screens, we subject our eyes to considerable stress, having to spend many hours exposed to blue light. The latter is light emitted by artificial sources such as smartphones, tablets and computers.

Glasses with blue light filters are therefore a must-have for those who spend a lot of time in front of screens, as they help to reduce eye strain. In practice, their function is to block blue light in order to reduce its effect on our eyesight.

Also known as “computer glasses”, they protect the eyes without compromising on style.

Trendy eyewear colours in 2026

Colour is always a fundamental element in giving your glasses expressiveness. Choosing the colour of an accessory such as glasses is not just a matter of style, but rather of what you want to communicate, as it determines your personality. In 2026, the main trends in terms of colours are driven by:

  • Warm and neutral shades: to soften the face without losing confidence, colours such as terracotta, olive green and mustard yellow are given space, but also sage, sand and powder pink.

  • All shades of blue: whether navy blue, electric blue, light blue or sky blue, this year it is definitely a must-have. It is a colour that brightens the face and conveys energy and reliability.
  • The timeless and ever-present: shades of black, brown and grey never go out of fashion, they go well with everything and are versatile and essential.
  • Light metals: this year, there is a strong focus on the balance that light metals bring to eyewear: both light gold and silver, adding little weight to the face, create a very light effect and convey elegance.
  • Pantone’s “Cloud Dancer White”: white is back, but as the colour of the year. A classic touch of purity that never fails, as Vogue says: “[…] it is a colour that does not disturb, that does not create problems, it is easily found in everything around us. White can be everything to everyone, or anything to anyone”.

Eyewear 2026: materials and sustainability

One issue that must be taken into serious consideration is sustainability, which has become an essential requirement for brands.

In the talk entitled ‘Designing the future of eyewear: eco-design between sustainable choices, materials and processes’ held during MIDO 2026, sustainability was defined as a conscious design choice on the part of the company, capable of having an impact on the final design and on the market.

In the eyewear sector, now more than ever, it is necessary to work strategically, creating products that do not have a significant impact on the environment and are also durable and repairable.

Today, the use of recyclable materials such as recycled acetate, bio-acetate, recycled plastics, natural products and very light metal alloys is growing particularly rapidly in the production of spectacle frames.

CliC’s commitment to sustainability

CliC Eyewear is working hard to make a significant contribution to reducing the environmental impact of its products. A clear commitment to this is demonstrated by the change in the choice of materials used in the production of its collections.

All CliC glasses are made entirely from G850 (Rilsan Clear G850 Rnew), a material that is much more sustainable, rigid and transparent than TR90 (a material composed of a mixture of nylon and carbon fibre).

G850 is a transparent polyamide derived from renewable sources: it is composed of 49% organic castor oil and 51% fossil carbon.
